The Overflow Siphon has a skimmer effect which removes the floating layer, that carries particles lighter than water (e.g. flower pollen).The regular overflow from the storage tank is important to get the optimum water quality. It prevents souring of the water. The floating layer could otherwise build up over time, and so reduce oxygen diffusion at the water surface, which in turn could lead to anaerobic reducing conditions in the tank.

Skimming Overflow, Rodent Barrier, and Water Trap

The Uno Overflow Siphon skims surface debris and oils from the surface of the water with it's wide inlet to preserve water quality. In addition it will prevent rodent entry and foul odours from entering from the drain. It is designed for easy installation into PE and GRP tanks using it's rubber seal and large backnut, or is available with a longer plain end for installation through a tank seal (for concrete tanks).

Dual Skimming Overflow, Rodent Barrier, and Water Trap

The Duo Overflow Siphon skims surface debris and oils from the surface of the water with it's wide inlet to preserve water quality. In addition it will prevent rodent entry and foul odours from entering from the drain. The Duo also provides a 110 mm inlet in order to accept the dirty water outlet from an in-tank rainwater filter, thus reducing the number of outlet pipes required and eliminating the need for an external join before discharge to the sewer. It is suitable for PE and GRP and concrete tanks.

The Rodent Barrier fits into any standard 110 mm drain (100 mm internal diameter) and allows the passage of clean water without permitting rodents and larger objects through, and without impeding the flow of water. For use in tank overflows without a rodent trap. The rodent barrier is not needed when using the Uno, Mono or Duo overflow siphons.

The basic overflow has some skimming effect due to its vertical inlet, but is not as effective as the Uno, Mono or Duo.

This is available either in its basic form, with one of 2 types of rodent barrier fitted (spiral, or bars), or with a backflow prevention valve fitted.

Overflow is an important part of the rainwater harvesting process. Adequate overflow is essential for optimum tank water quality.

Tanks fitted with Overflow Siphons and Calmed Inlets become eligible for the ECA scheme.

The three sizes of Giant Overflow Siphons are available with optional stainless steel rodent barriers.
